For years massage therapists were taught massage for cancer patients was contraindicated. However, research states appropriate massage can be a beneficial complementary service. This basic class introduces the complexity of cancer and its treatments, the benefits of massage therapy as well as the specific techniques for working with this special growing population. Bring 3 pillows to class The fastest growing population in this country is our elder population. They are also the most untouched. This highly interactive, hands-on class will introduce you into the rewarding world of working with the Senior Adult client. Participants will gain a deeper understanding into the aging process, become aware of cautions and contraindications and how to make needed modifications to accommodate this clientele. Ortho-Bionomy Isometrics
The Art of Conscious Resistance This class is approved by the NCBTMB & the ASBMT

Participants will learn how the conscious use of obstacles promotes change from stasis to mobility and is beneficial in many different situations. Learn the difference between isotonics and isometrics and their specific and general application. All courses are approved by the ASBMT. Class size is limited and a course may be subject to cancellation for lack of participation. A $25 late fee may be applied if not registered at least 2 weeks prior to start date of class. Any withdrawals must be made by phone at least 2 weeks prior to the date of the course in order to receive any portion of a refund.
All participants need to wear comfortable, loose clothing and supply his/her own massage lotions, linens, and massage table. All classes will be held at the TouchPointe Centre located one block west of the Park Plaza Mall.

CEU Instructor Bios
Naomi H. Hall, MTI, NCTMB became a massage therapist in 1999, a Master Massage Therapist in 2002, and a Massage Therapy Instructor in 2003. She is the owner and director of the TouchPointe Centre, Arkansas’ first massage and wellness clinic to specialize in oncology and other special needs massage. She is also the founder of TouchPointe Wellness Centre, a non-profit organization for taking massage and touch therapies into underserved and medically needy populations. Naomi’s extensive training and experience in medical styles of massage include: oncology; geriatric; lymph drainage; and pain management. She also established a massage program at UAMS for in-patient and out-patient services and is an independent contractor for CARTI. In 2009, she started the massage program at Chenal Heights Retirement Living Center located in West Little Rock. Naomi is a certified infant massage instructor and a certified Trauma Touch Therapist. In 2007, Naomi was named Arkansas Small Business Person of the Year by the US Small Business Administration. She has been a Technique instructor in massage schools and teaches and lectures on various Touch Topics throughout Arkansas.
Eileen Joyce, MSN, MTI, NCTMB retired from nursing after 35 years and has worked as a massage therapist since 1997. She became a Master Massage Therapist in 2001, a Massage Therapy Instructor in 2005, and became nationally certified in 2005. Her specialties include oncology and medical massage. Eileen originated the massage program at Central Arkansas Radiation Treatment Institute (CARTI) in 2000 and continues to provide massage for CARTI patients who are receiving radiation. She has her private practice at TouchPointe Centre. Eileen has taught Medical Massage and other health related topics to massage students and therapists for 10 years.
Johnnie Minor, MTI graduated from massage therapy school in 2006. She earned her Master Massage Therapy’s license in 2007 and her Massage Therapy Instructor’s license in 2008 and is an AMTA member. Johnnie maintains a full-time practice at the TouchPointe Centre, where she focuses her talents primarily with senior adult and oncology patients. She specializes in Geriatric, Oncology, Lymphatic Drainage and Pain Management.
Darlene Smith, LMT, NCTMB is a Registered Advanced Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy, a Licensed Massage Therapist and is recognized by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider. Darlene has studied and practiced Ortho-Bionomy for16 years. She has been teaching the work for 11 years, throughout the US and Canada. Darlene’s natural curiosity and her own life experiences have led her in the ongoing pursuit of a clearer and deeper understanding of the dance that evolves within the physical and energetic body. Darlene’s teaching embodies the principles of Ortho-Bionomy. She shares with her students, a clear and gentle approach to body work, which allows her students to learn in a relaxed, safe and comfortable atmosphere.
